A geneticists we've talked to call these "stealth black", while they don't look black genetically they are. So that cria should breed like black even though he's fawn.

caraoak haven alpacashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02603968424369860667noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6949282636604185864.post-30288732655171503762012-08-01T07:08:38.307+01:002012-08-01T07:08:38.307+01:00Well at least it keeps us excited...we have both h...Well at least it keeps us excited...we have both had a week of colour surprises...I guess there really is no point in too much planning!!

He looks lovely and healthy, Congratulations Geena!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12308678024988841844noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6949282636604185864.post-7852648306945107282012-08-01T00:58:47.908+01:002012-08-01T00:58:47.908+01:00I can't stand all this colour planning !! Geena was conceived here at Wellground in 2001, when we used for the first time a new stud called Tabasco. He was a mid fawn, with fawn and light brown parentage. It transpired that he had very strong colour gene. Although Geena was born solid black, it seems Tabasco's colour genetics come to the fore in her offspring. Hope you get a another black cria from her one day soon.

RobRob @ Wellgroundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08733071013988644583noreply@blogger.com
