Did someone say it is summer?!
Despite it continuing to be wet and miserable here the alpacas are still sat out in the field munching away, with the exception of Mary who is a bit of a shelter dweller.
I have been trying to encourage the mums of the three youngest cria into the shelter, in particular Geena and Brinley as today he has been feeling the cold. On the plus side though he has drank his bottles which is good. This evening he has two coats on to make sure he doesn't get too cold.
The chickens haven't been as brave as the alpacas and haven't ventured out much today, I can't say as I blame them really.

Apparently it is August !...however it feels more like November .....mind you we have seen the sun today !!....which makes a change.......hope those baies are nice and snug in the shelter tonight.......Jayne
Five days ago it felt like winter in the borders - but I just thought that was normal!
Can't get my babies in the shelters either!
Oh well, maybe the price we pay over here for periods with very dry paddocks is that here it remains warm and our crias never need 2 coats! I look at all the blog photos of alpacas up North, (and of those many lower down too), and I just dream of grass like you have, but not the weather that makes it grow like that!
